“Moment Before Dreaming (Idjut Boys Rmx 1)”
This double disc will provide you with about as much Ananda Project as you can handle. Disc one features remixes of their last full-length, Fire Flower. Disc two is a collection of classics from the Project mixed by its central figure, Chris Brann. Night Blossom’s first half, while reinterpreted by a myriad of musicians including Blaze, Jay-J and Joe Claussell, doesn’t stray far from the originals’ fast, rolling house beats, interspersed with soulful vocals. Even if the remixers are different in style, they are similar in sensibility to Brann himself. The authenticity of his work is retained, only highlighted differently here and there, such as on the Idjut Boys’ remix of “Moment Before Dreaming,” where it is turned into an ominous, bass-based creation. Second half of Night Blossom is a mixed look back at the Project’s history with forays into rhythm and blues, mid-tempo house and tuneful, song-based floor-fillers.
