An incredibly unique band whose sound trails the genius of Pink Floyd, Air and Daft Punk, with a little bit of O.M.D. thrown in, the Egg’s truly defies genrefication.
“Venice Beach”
Superbly blending pop, electronica, psychedelica and ’80s dream-synth rock, Forwards is a calm and soothing experience, even when the music dives into intense guitar and funkier, soulful bass. Light on the percussion, the Egg masterfully manipulates us into a sweetly ethereal and yet utterly grounded experience of emotion that sways between hopeful, reminiscent melodies filled with longing and dreamy, lush, richly emollient swaths of gorgeous melody. Amongst the guitar and electronica, the Egg utilizes the simplicity of singular instruments, making their debut—both the airy, joyful harmonica in “Venice Beach” and the sexy sax solo in “Walking Away” will leave you drenched in breathlessness. In fact, the entire album, save for the bizarre lyrics and musicality of “She’s Terrific,” is subtly infectious, the kind of album you’ll love to share.
