What quote best describes your philosophy on life? Isis: “We’re going streaking!” (Old School) Grahm: “This is bat country.” (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) What’s behind the moniker? G: The name ThunderHeist was my idea. I originally planned to have another producer involved. The guy in question, Dax, used to tell me I stole his thunder all the time. Given that every common word has been used for band names, I knew I had to come up with either an imaginary word, or combine multiple words together. Checked Google, saw zero hits and knew it was a winner. Something you should probably know about us: I: I have many leatherbound books, and my study room smells like rich mahogany. I also really love jazz music and skydiving is on my bucket list…for obvious reason it is the last thing on my bucket list. You know, just in case. Oh, and I can juggle. G: I’m son of an Olympian and was conceived in the Olympic village. I have a bionic arm. I also really love to cook and cooking reality shows. Oh, and I have an unhealthy addiction to caffeine. Looking forward to most in ’09: I: Meeting Oprah. G: Meeting Stedman. How, if at all, has your live show evolved since your first gig? I: To be honest…not much. The objective is to create a free zone. An escape from the everyday mundane life that most of us live. We just want you to wake up the next morning saying, “Oh my face…but it was so worth it.” And if you’re really lucky that will be followed by, “Who the hell are you?” G: She’s lying…we now have trained circus monkeys who juggle while jumping through rings of fire while singing backups using those awesome Janet Jackson headsets. We also occasionally have “wardrobe malfunctions.” Other than music what else gets you guys excited? I: Häagen-Dazs cheesecake ice cream, Polaroids, summer rain and Johnny Depp. Especially Johnny Depp. G: Craigslist bargains. 5-star hotels when someone else is paying. Going to Japan. Guilty pleasures: I: I really like that song “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon, which is one of their more poppy songs and my friends in turn laugh at me. But you know what, me and my karaoke machine don’t give a damn! G: Degrassi High reruns. Rom coms. Infomercials. Most memorable night out. I: If I could remember, it obviously wasn’t worth it…that’s what party photographers are for, to remind me how the lipstick ended up on my left shoulder. G: LA has always been great for us. Cinespace about a year and a half ago. We played in the DJ room after Chromeo and Flosstradamus killed the main room. Isis singing on the couches, me blindingly drunk. OK, Isis was probably blindingly drunk too—as her previous answer states. Woke up in a dumpster with stitches where my kidney used to be. If you took my kidney and are reading this, holler at me! Favorite way to waste time? I: There are so many. Lying in the grass staring at cloud shapes. G: Space origami. Spaceships are motherfucking hard!
