You’d be wrong to expect safe, sappy designs with a designer who boasts such a client base that ranges from Disney to Arte. Saying Sander Mulder has an eye for the unconventional is as gross an understatement as there can be. Equally at home with lighting or furniture Mulder warps an object’s natural use and creates a sense of “functional kitsch” while keeping himself inspired, believing that “…designers who study nothing but design will have nothing to make design about.” Be it broken bulbs or the headless dog speakers pictured above (“Woofer”, geddit?) his take on the everyday isn’t…your everyday.
