Thought So…, Nightmares On Wax’s sixth full-length, is the sound of the producer also known as E.a.s.e. or George Evelyn moving from dark and dank northern England to the sunny and warm climes of Ibiza, Spain. Written partially on the road during this immigration and put to bed in his new home, Thought So… nevertheless still retains what fans have come to count on E.a.s.e. for: dubbed out, beat-heavy, hip-hop–influenced, soulful sounds pasted together with spliffed-out sensibility. Syncopated beats decorate the slow moving “195 lbs,” calming the listener with its reggae vocal inputs. “Pretty Dark” has pretty bell-like insertions that move it along gently. Minimal to the point of bare, this unhurried pace starts becoming sluggish the further you get into Thought So… For some this is a bonus, for others, it’s simply the same thing, losing its initial impact and getting stuck in a repetitive mode.
