Pure Digital’s Flip, a pocket size camcorder, is now offered in HD mode (720p resolution, 1280 x 720, in16:9). The FlipShare™ software works with both PC and Mac and allows you to upload your videos directly to AOL Video, MySpace and YouTube. There’s 4GB of memory, which equals about 60 minutes of footage. The MinoHD is perfect for viral video junkies and makers that are light on cash. We’re even going to use it for some interviews. If you buy online you can cutomize the look by adding you own images on the skin or by using one of their patterns. The preview sceen is a bit small for video playback, but you’re not really shooting HD video to watch it on the device.

I was originally going to buy the flip minoHD but I couldn’t find it locally, so I picked up An Insignia (Best Buy brand) for $99 bucks on black Friday. It’s seriously a good pick up. I added another 8 gig memory card for $25 and I was out the door with a little cam, with a flip out 3″ screen that you can rotate to see yourself, if you’re your own cameraman. It shoots 720p and with the 8 gig card it says it’ll shoot 4 hours of footage. It looks clean, I used it this morning on the morning show I produce to capture some footage of the fog on my late night commute to work. The only downside is… it’s a generic brand, its ugly (although about the same size as the mino), and the first one I picked up was defective.
