KARL HECTOR & THE MALCOUNS

Categorized Under: Music, Music Reviews No Comments

Genre: dusty funk, refried Afrobeat, north African rhythms.
Sounds like: multi-talented, well-traveled musicians jamming together.
Bottom line: Rhythm is the key to this LP’s enjoyment, as ex-leader of Funk Pilots, Karl Hector, teams up with Jay Whitefield and the Malcouns. The result being a fusion of world funk resembling a hypothetical jam session between Fela Kuti and James Brown. (Marlon Regis)
