Stainless Style – Neon Neon’s highly ambitious and original concept album – was picked as one of just 12 “Albums Of The Year” by the Mercury Music Prize panel.

Neon Neon is the artist name for the combined musical powers of Super Furry Animals and solo star Gruff Rhys alongside LA based musician and producer Boom Bip. On Stainless Style, the pair is joined by some notable names including Cate LeBon, Har Mar Superstar, Yo Majesty and Spank Rock for a turbo-charged, electro-pop tour de force inspired by the ultra colourful life of maverick automotive mogul John DeLorean.

The twelve track debut explores a range of biographically relevant subjects including chin implants, Raquel Welch, sweat shops, Michael Douglas and, of course, fast cars.

Speaking shortly after the announcement earlier today Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip said, “We’re very chuffed, and feel maybe John DeLorean’s up there somewhere looking down on us with a proud glint in his eye.
