Lot49 Presents: Lee Coombs

Categorized Under: Music, Music Reviews One Comment

Hailing as the leading force in the breakbeat and tech funk genre, Lee Coombs delivers the next installment in the Lot49 Presents series.

”Zum Goldenen Handschuh” by Oliver Huntemann

Lee’s first album on the Finger Lickin’ label set him aside as the new messiah of acid house breaks, and with no time at all he had been contracted to remix the likes of Moby, Paul Oakenfold and New Order. This compilation brings forth some true gems in Lee’s record bag, displaying his ability to sequester the best techno, breaks, acid and house from over the years. Without a moment to spare, the track selection never lends you time to breathe, bringing pounding track after pounding track until your sweat glands purge every ounce of fluid left in your parched body. With tracks from Drama Society, 30Hz, Oliver Huntemann, Dopamine and the leading man himself, you can expect a solid performance short of a dance-induced seizure.

i couldn’t get a good earful until i found the video (with longer audio) http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=25067516
this track’s got some nice depth for a not-exactly minimal tech house choon, bassline has some phat reverb and soft attack while the upper eq ebbs and flows with stacatto (but reverbed) tech synths
and it was a little unclear above, but this release is taken from “Hamburger Berg EP” on Confused Recordings, not Finger Lickin’
