How fun and just as un-fun to be Moby. Gobs of cash, enough to do anything you want—but anything you do is minutely scrutinized. Luckily, Moby pays zero attention to the over-analysis of his music and does what feels right.
“I Love To Move In Here”
On his latest album, Last Night, this would be a dedicated return to the dancefloor. At times this smacks of his early ’90s compositions (“Everyday It’s 1989,” “The Stars”) At other points, Last Night is a reflection of endless nights spent in the musical smorgasbord of a New York City club crawl. “I Love To Move In Here” has delightful Italian piano-y house peppered with a lighthearted rap and a delicate refrain of the title. “Disco Lies” has no shame in being a trance-tinged, percolating number with the sing-along-able phrase, “How could you lie?” Last Night slows down considerably towards its close, coming to a minimalist ballad on the title track.
