Revisiting 2007’s second artist album from Miguel Migs is Those Things Remixed. As the title might suggest, this collection is remixes of Those Things. Considering Those Things was less diverse in style than Migs’ first long-player, Colorful You, Remixed gives it a chance to take on varied musical guises.

“Sometime (Crazy P Superfunk Remix)”

The tracks on Those Things lend themselves nicely to these reinterpretations, which primarily rely on live instrumentation. Starting with the Prince-ified funk guitar rendition of “Sometime,” the main change on many of the remixes is through the turning up of the funk factor. Then there is the lively Old School Revival Dub of “So Far,” courtesy of Eric, energizing that particular number. Cottonbelly infuses some island vibes in “Fire” and J-Boogie turns “Shake It Up” into Blondie’s “Rapture”—in a fashion. Not to be forgone is Migs’ own alternate versions, showing these tracks had the potential to be more multi-dimensional than originally represented.
