Farah Celebrates 90th Anniversary with 1920 Capsule Collection

Categorized Under: News 2 Comments

To celebrate 90 years as a clothing manufacturer, Farah has created ‘1920’ – a new premium capsule collection that revives the company’s remarkable back catalog.

The new ‘1920’ line distills Farah’s heritage into an extraordinary capsule collection comprising of: chambray workshirts, wool/cotton undershirts, army chinos, pea coats, duffel coats, CPO shirts (rugged shirt-jackets), work jackets, selvage denim jeans, hand-knit zip cardigans, slim-cut twill pants, slim-cut oxford button-downs and polo shirts.

Each piece is key in the Farah archive, dating from the 1920s through to the 1960s. Materials and details are faithful to the original pieces, creating an authentic testimonial to the incredible heritage of this iconic manufacturer.

Meticulous detail has been put into the packaging and labeling of the ‘1920’ collection. Original paper-dyed labels go into 1920s chambray shirts, branded “El Paso, Texas”. Army-specification chinos and pea coats carry military department cotton labels marked with model numbers used by American servicemen of the 1940s. The famous button-down shirts, slim cut twill pants and polo shirts from the 1960s Mod-era all bear flat-sealed labels – signing off the collection.

These exquisite vintage reproductions are strictly limited edition: 90 of each design will be available in stores from September 2010.  Get more info on Farah.co.uk

DJ Hero 2 Adds Tiesto To The Mix

Categorized Under: Tech, Video Games One Comment

Activision has announced that Tiesto will join deadmau5, David Guetta and Q-Bert as a playable character in DJ Hero 2.  Tiesto has already performed for every person on the planet (our fact checkers are looking into this claim) and he’s currently on the largest DJ-only tour ever conceived, so it’s only fair that he’s now been digitized, face-mapped and motion-captured for DJ Hero 2.  In fact, Tiesto’s in-game avatar could fill more clubs with fist-pumping fans than your favorite DJ.

Set to hit stores this October for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, DJ Hero 2 will feature 80+ exclusive mixes of dance, pop and hip hop.  The game also incorporates vocals and a new “Empire Mode” where you bring your up-and-coming  DJ to the big leagues.  Check out www.djhero.com for more info, videos and screenshots.

Mafia II Has The Best Promo Item Ever

In an attempt to scare the shipping company get us excited for the release of Mafia II, the maniacs at 2k Games decided to send us this lamp.   The Limited Edition Mafia II Gun Lamp is modeled after the classic .45 automatic used in the game.

One of the true highlights of E3, Mafia II is a sandbox game that will do for the 40′s-50′s American Gangster Era what Red Dead Redemption has done for the Old West.  During our hands-on preview we got a feel for driving period cars, evading the police and eliminating some of the competition during a mission in a fiery liquor storehouse.

New Balance Reintroduces the New Balance 320 Sneaker

Categorized Under: sneakers No Comments

For the fall 2010 season, New Balance Lifestyle is reintroducing the popular heritage running 320 silhouette for the first time since the 1970s. Originally released in 1976 for men and in 1978 for women, the 320 was revolutionary for its time and changed the course of New Balance history.

Running for fitness was becoming an increasingly popular trend, and the 1976 Olympics in Montreal got millions of Americans excited about athletics. The 320 catapulted the brand to the forefront of modern athletic shoe design and was the first New Balance silhouette to sport the “N” logo.

In October 1976, the New Balance 320 was rated the #1 running shoe by Runner’s World magazine, citing its highly stable flared heel, forefoot cushioning and width sizing.  The #1 rating from Runner’s World drove sales through the roof and telephone calls and telegrams poured in. Everyone wanted the New Balance 320 and in 1976 the suggested retail price of the 320 was $32.00, laying the groundwork for the New Balance naming system (i.e. model numbers of the shoes were the original prices).

In 1978, NB created a specific women’s last for the 320 and in addition to being named #1 by Runner’s World, the 320 quickly became notable in the industry as the first running shoe that was designed exclusively for women. The creation of separate men’s and women’s lasts allowed for a snugger and more natural fit which allowed for the deconstructed and soft material used in today’s reissues.

HARD LA CANCELLED Due to Security Reasons

Categorized Under: Music, Nightlife One Comment

HARD LA has been officially cancelled as of yesterday and the reasoning behind it was due to all the security concerns that really had a lot of people worried especially after the EDC aftermath with a lot of attendees were sent to the hospital due to rioting. The festival was set to be held this Saturday, July 17th at the Los Angeles State Historic Park in Downtown. Headlining this event was M.I.A, N.E.R.D and Die Antwoord but Die Antwoord is set to play a show this Saturday at the El Rey.

Due to events beyond our control, HARD LA M.I.A. July 17 has been cancelled.

Thanks to the continued support of City of Los Angeles, LAPD, LAFD, and California State Parks HARD SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL at the Los Angeles State Historic Park on August 7th 2010 featuring Soulwax, Crystal Castles, Major Lazer, Erol Alkan, Diplo, Digitalism and more will continue as scheduled.

Die Antwoord Release Their First American EP “5″

Categorized Under: Music, Music Reviews 2 Comments

We have fell hard for Die Antwoord ever since we first saw their videos on YouTube. Now with Coachella, a European tour, and a major record deal by Interscope Records behind them, the South African rap act straight out of Cape Town is now about to release tomorrow their first digital EP in the US which has been titled “5″. You can catch DJ Fishsticks doing a mix of “Enter the Ninja” on the EP as well.

Plus if you haven’t already heard, Die Antwoord is set to play HARD festival in Los Angeles July 17th if you want to see Ninja, Yo Landi Vi$$er and hopefully DJ Hi-Tek (if he manages to conquer his fear of flying) on stage doing what they do best. The physical EP will officially be released on July 27th… however there will only be 5000 copies being made so make sure you get it before it gets sold out.

For those who have a little more cash in their pockets, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to invest your money into buying this sick varsity inspired jacket by Balmain. The Balmain jacket is a part of the FW 2010 collection and if you can save up those pennies, it would be the perfect touch for the upcoming Fall.
